This is why I write!
As a creative artist, my goal is to encourage and lift people through my writing and music. When I wrote “The Christmas Ladder: Story and Song by Chris Atkins” I hoped it would bring a little joy to people who may be going through a tough season. Through the process of writing, recording, working with an illustrator from Ukraine, and sorting through publishing offers with my team of advisors, I realized my desire was see the book in the hands of people who needed inspiration and hope. It has been gratifying to see what has happened so far. In 2024 one person was moved to help bring 1,000 books to children in need through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Ministry, and I was blessed to do a special “Christmas Ladder” event in Florida. I am going back there with a few musicians friends to do another event there in early December. This year, many people have already stepped up and donated money to Grace Unleashed Inc so that 250+ books will be donated to the Salvation Army in Minnesota for their annual “Toy Shop” event at which I will be singing and meeting people. Thanks to the many people who have purchased this book to enjoy or give way! I received this text message from the mother of a little girl who heard the song and told her mom,
“That’s my favorite song”. The mom added “She was thrilled to see there was a book. She’s now reading/singing the book. Thank you!”
